Leonard Lee Shannahan, 87, passed away in Lake Havasu City, Az; on Saturday, October 28, 2006. He was born on September 4, 1919 in Columbia, MO. Leonard married his wife Mildred Ann on May 28, 1939. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945, and was decorated with the Victory Medal, European Theater Ribbon with a Silver Battle Star, 4 overseas Service Bars, and the Medal Belgian Fourragere. From Columbia, Leonard and Mildred moved to Dixon, IL; and subsequently to Sterling, IL; where he retired as Plant Manager of Northwestern Steel and Wire in 1975. Leonard and Mildred moved to Lake Havasu City in 1989. He enjoyed playing golf, was an avid sports fan, and always looked forward to family reunions every five years to commemorate his birthday. Leonard is survived by two daughters Rebecca S. Shannahan of Lake Havasu City,Az; Patricia L. Clark and husband Fred of Dixon, IL; sons, Richard J. Shannahan and wife Chris of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Michael J. Shannahan and wife Renee of San Jose, CA; one brother and two sisters; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Ann. A graveside services will be held at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. A memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Lake Havasu City, AZ; at a later date.
