Herman George Sowerby, 89, passed away on Friday, June, 13, 2008 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Herman was born in Thayer, Illinois on December 12, 1918 to Fred and Catherine (Kopen) Sowerby. Herman lived 15 years in Lake Havasu City working with his wife (Luella, now deceased), family and many friends at St. Vincent De Paul before retiring a few years ago for the second time. Herman was the last remaining child of 6 children. They will all be together in heaven now. He was a retired draftsman from General Motors where he spent more than 20 years in Detroit, MI. Herman and Luella later moved to Venice, Florida before coming to Arizona. Herman loved to do woodworking and kept busy maintaining his home and caring for his dog and bird. Herman is survived by his daughter, Judith Lazare of Lake Havasu City and son, Gerald Sowerby of Clarkston, Michigan, along with 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He also has many nieces and nephews along with a dear nephew Paul Sowerby of Lake Havasu City and dear friend Mary Ann Cyr. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in Herman's name be sent to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405. They were wonderful people who made Herman's last days with us very comfortable and blessed. He will be loved and missed dearly.
