EDWARD THEODORE ZINER 1924 - 2007 Ed Ziner passed away on Wed., April 18, 2007 as a result of cancer. "Ed" was born in Werner, North Dakota to Eugene and Theolina Ziner on November 17, 1924. Ed was raised on a ranch in North Dakota with his sisters, Marcella, Theolin and Frances. Ed attended grade school in Taylor, North Dakota and later graduated from Glyndon High School in Glyndon, Minnesota. After finishing high school, Ed moved back to Fargo, North Dakota before entering the US Army in 1946 where he served in the military police at Governors Island, New York. Upon Ed's honorable discharge from the US Army, he joined the National Gypsum Company as a salesman traveling the country during which time he met his future wife, Clarice Haakenson in Fargo in 1952. He and Clarice dated for years until Ed moved to California and Clarice moved to Nebraska. Ed and Clarice continued their long distance romance for years until they finally decided to marry in 1970 when Clarice joined Ed in California. Ed continued working with Los Angeles based Evans Products from where he retired in 1987 and shortly thereafter, Ed and Clarice moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ. Ed was an avid golfer where he enjoyed developing and cultivating many longstanding friendships. Ed was a member of the Lake Havasu Elks Lodge, the London Bridge Golf Club and the Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Ed is survived by his wife Clarice; his sisters Marcella Amundson of Fargo, ND, Theolin Benzie of Mankato, MN and Frances Gallagher of Hawley, MN and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2007, 2:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Words of comfort and inspiration will be presented by Pastor Greg Mannel. Graveside services will follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens, concluding with military honors performed by the VFW Post 9401 and American Legion Post 81. A reception will follow at the home of Jeanine and Jack Harrington, 388 Laurie Lane, Lake Havasu City, AZ. Donations may be made to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405 or Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2170 Havasupai Blvd., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
