D. J. Sullivan died; former state official

Prescott – Daniel J. Sullivan, 75, former head of the Arizona State Employment service, died yesterday at the Whipple Veteran’s Hospital.

Mr. Sullivan was born in Leadville Colo., and came to Arizona at an early age. In 1931, he became manager of the employment service and remained with the agency for 32 years before retiring in 1965. The last 22 years he spent as manager of the Prescott employment office.

Mr. Sullivan was an army veteran of World War I, a member of the Prescott Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.

Rosary will be at 8 p.m. today in the Sacred Heart Church, with requiem mass at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

Private burial will be in the Whipple Veterans Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a son, Dan M., of Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Bronski, of Phoenix; a brother, John of Phoenix; a sister, Mrs. Leona Attwood, of Superior and eight grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Arizona Heart Association.

Friends may call at the Ruffner Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. today.
