The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona June 18, 2008, Section B, Page 6 Maefern (Averill) Christianson, died June 13, 2008 in Peoria, AZ. She was 88 years old. She was born September 21, 1919 on a farm south of Tracy, MN to Burton and Lillie (Rae) Averill. She graduated from Tracy High School in 1938. Maefern moved to Moline, IL in 1956 where she worked as an inspector for the Y&S Candy Company until her retirement. Maefern really enjoyed doing arts, crafts and playing cards with her many friends in her retirement community. She was an avid Minnesota Viking fan and just loved her Arizona Diamondback baseball team. No doubt, the biggest love of her life were her 4 sons. She never failed to brag about "her boys" to anyone who would listen. Maefern is survived by sons, Terry (Maureen) Fetter of Peoria, AZ, Larry (Pat) Fetter of Shoreview, MN, Paul Fetter of Peoria, AZ, and Warren (Rosie) Fetter of Moline, IL. She is also survived by sisters, Florence McHugh of Newburg, WI, Beverly Knutson of Mesa, AZ; stepdaughter, Sandra Gibson of Delaware and Sis (Joe) Beierman of Tracy, MN. Maefern loved Sis as a daughter. She had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, James K. Fetter; 2nd husband, Oris (Chris) Christianson; sisters, Norenne Stencel, Bernetta Holm; brother, Mort Averill; granddaughter Darlene Fetter and stepdaughter, Bonnie Roby. Graveside services will be held at a later date in a family cemetery in Radcliffe, Iowa. See Also: Find A Grave |
