The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona Esther Reidhead Hansen Johnson 03/16/2004 Esther Reidhead Hansen Johnson, 84, died March 11, 2004 in Snowflake, after a valiant fight with cancer. Esther was born July 18, 1919 in Linden, to German Howard and Lillie Peterson Reidhead. Esther attended school in Show Low. Noted for her fine cooking, Esther ran the Sportsman cafe while Alfred operated Al's Gas service station in Show Low. She worked in the food preparation business at the Shamrock Cafe, the Porter House Motel Coffee House, White Mountain Cafe and others in Show Low. She was the cafeteria manager for Snowflake Union High School for two years. She moved to Mesa in 1966 and worked for Arizona State University foods and Skaggs Drugstores. Esther married Alfred Hansen on August 22,1935 in Globe. She had a green thumb and her flowers brought pleasure to all. She loved to quilt, crochet and visit with people(she never met a stranger). Camping, fishing and dancing we some of her favorite pastimes. She cherished Hootie her sweet dog. A lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was always active and served in various positions. Temple work was very dear to her. She is survived by her children: Howard (Judy) of Show Low, Danny of Salt Lake City, Utah, Karry (Denise) of Parker Colorado, Sherry (Carl) Cosper of Snowflake; 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; sister Georgia Adams of Show Low, plus many nieces, nephews and friends. Esther was preceded in death by her husband Alfred in 1968; her second husband Myron Johnson in 1978; a daughter Caroldean; and four sisters- Mettie Hunt, Lillyan Whipple, Neola Mills and Wilmeth Seay and Eva Reidhead. Funeral services were held Monday, March 15, 2004 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Show Low Downtown Chapel, Show Low, Arizona. Owens's Mortuary handled arrangements.
