The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona - 02/08/2005 Paul Lokken, 70, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005 from an unexpected illness at Navapache Regional Medical Center in Show Low. He was born October 30, 1934 in Valley City, North Dakota. Paul grew up and was educated there, graduating from Valley City High School. He went on to serve in the US Army, and graduated from Valley City State College with a bachelor's degree in teaching. Paul met his wife, Mary Ellen Schaan while attending college and they were married December 28, 1959. Paul worked and lived in North Dakota while raising 6 children with Mary Ellen. In 1989 they moved to Show Low. Paul retired after 35 years in the teaching profession. He enjoyed spending time in this woodworking shop. He loved to share his woodworking and ceramic talents by giving them to family members and friends. Paul especially liked sharing his crafts and knick-knacks with his grandchildren. He added a generous amount of love and pride to all of his creations. Paul also had a love of literature, and he was a published poet. He loved reading poetry, watching movies and spending time with his faithful companion, Joy, a Blue Healer. Paul was devoted to his faith and was active in his church; he taught and lectured whenever he was able. He was very jovial, and his friends and family enjoyed his wonderful wit and sense of humor. Paul loved baseball and bled Dodger blue since he was a young boy. He was an avid fan of all sports. Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; six children, John and Lisa Lokken of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Joe and Kristy Lokken of Bismarck, North Dakota, Jayne Lokken of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Jim and Julie Lokken of Delano, Minnesota, Jay and Suzanne Lokken of Robinsdale, Minnesota, and Jerry and Marilyn Lokken of Waterford, Connecticutt; 13 grandchildren, sibling, Gladys, David, John, Leroy, and Sharon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hjalmer and Mabel Lokken; siblings, Gordon, Donald, Harold, Melvin, Edwin and Vernon. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials may be sent to Paul's favorite charity, The Salvation Army. Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements. See Also: Find A Grave |
