Rev. Maynard Kulp at age 94, went to be with the Lord he loved and served on March 29, 2006.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Violet; daughter, Martha Ducharme of Prescott; and son, John Kulp of Austin, Texas; granddaughter, Lori Kurowski of Prescott; grandson, Mike Parcell of Phoenix; granddaughters Bethany Kulp and Jessica Kulp; Cristy McElvogue, and six great-grandchildren.

He loved spending time with his family, fishing, camping, family get-togethers, and especially going to the ocean.

He pastored three churches in Indiana for a total of 35 years: Twin Branch Bible
Church, Mishawaka, Ind.; Bible Baptist Church, Wakarusa, Ind.; First Baptist, Goshen Ind., where he led in the building of a beautiful new building. Maynard also conducted a summer campground for young children and teens, which was called Michiana because it was on the border of Indiana and Michigan.

In 1971 Maynard and Violet moved to Phoenix and directed the Prescott Pines Camp for two years. Then he was called to pastor Deer Valley Baptist church in Phoenix where he served for four years. His last pastorate was at Quartzsite, Ariz., where he served three years and led the congregation in building a lovely new church building which seats 400 (with all volunteer workers!).

He served his congregations with love and compassion and was an ideal pastor as demonstrated by the love the congregations showed toward him.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 2, at 2 p.m., at Hillside Southern Baptist Church, 1344 W. Thunderbird Road, Phoenix, with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m.

Private burial will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Maynard Kulp Memorial Fund at Hillside Southern Baptist Church.
