The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona - 04/21/2009 Rose Kempe Chavez, 65, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at her home in St. Johns. She was born Oct. 11, 1943, in Springerville to Otto Joseph Kempe and Josefita Gregraria Hildago. Rose worked for Valley Bank for 13 years and Graves Propane for 15 years, retiring in 2006. She was family oriented and loved spending time with her family. She loved to crochet, go camping and fishing with her family, taught CCD and was a sponsor for the Catholic Youth Organization. Rose loved gardening flowers and vegetables, sewing, arts and crafts, canning jams and jellies and frequently traveled to Santa Fe. She loved her dog Buddy. Rose is survived by her husband, Bob S. Chavez, St. Johns; daughters Consuelo Chavez (Todd Rothrock), Tucson, Rebecca Chavez, Tucson; granddaughters Briana O'Donnell & Kailey Maas and sisters Lucille Tafoya, St. Johns; and Corina Dodge, St. Johns. She was preceded in death by one her parents Otto Kempe & Josie White, one son Robert Chavez, one brother Horacio Martinez and one half sister Marjorie Kempe Whiting. A Rosary was held April 17 at 7 p.m. at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, St. Johns. Funeral Mass was held Saturday, April 18, at 11 a.m. also at the church with viewing one hour prior. Interment will be held at St. Johns Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns handled arrangements. See Also: Find A Grave |
