John S. Carlier, 45, of Scottsdale, passed away on July 18, 2004 after waging a courageous battle against cancer.

John was a man of few words, a person who lived every day dedicated to his faith, family and those he respected in business and in his personal life.

He spent his youth growing up in Scottsdale and Tucson and participated in high school as a letterman swimmer as well as playing on two state championship football teams. He was the recipient of a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Arizona and an engineering degree from Arizona State University. John was one of those rare individuals who could reconcile Devils and Wildcats in his life.

His entire business career revolved around construction in Arizona. He was a third generation builder and a partner in the construction firm of The Renaissance Companies. For thirteen years, he worked endless hours to help build one of the finest commercial construction companies in Arizona.

John's commitment to integrity, honesty and the fair treatment of others allowed him to develop many lasting relationships with subcontractors and vendors within the industry.

His life was construction, but his passion was his family and his faith.
When John was not at work, he was a dedicated husband and father to his wife, Anne-Marie, and four children, Jordan, Connor, Jonathan, and Aidan.
John was heavily involved with coaching children's sports and helping out at church. John never missed a child's play or baseball game. For John, life was about balance and he was a man who new when to work, play, and be with his family. Best of all, John was a great friend to all and he will be missed by everyone he touched in his life. In addition to his family, John is also survived by his father, Gene (Noelle), brothers Mike (Stacy) and Joe (Cindy), and sisters Elizabeth DYKMAN (Fred), Susan BEARD (Terry), grandparents Josephine CARLIER and Clara and Earnest HADDOCK, many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
