Ronald W. (Sarge) Haws

Ronald W "Sarge" Haws, 85, died April 10, 2009 at White Mountain Regional Medical Center in Springerville. He was a resident of Eagar. Sarge was born Nov. 27, 1923, in Eagar to Mark A. and Mabel Lund Haws.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1941-1964 as a navigator-flight instructor and retired from that branch of the service.

He raised cattle, was a service station business owner and building inspector for Farm Home Administration and worked for the Forest Service and as a state worker at the inspection station.

Sarge is survived by his wife, JoAn Haws; sisters Molly Yoder of Dudleyville; Adel Calloway of Springerville and Marillyn Steward of Fort Worth, Texas. He is also survived by "sons" Richard Eagar, Willis Haws and Luke Eagar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark A. Haws and Mabel Lund Haws, and other family members Thea Haws, "Shorty" Haws, Buell Haws, Lela Rogers, Cora Hanenkratt, Dora Patterson and LaRue Reckard.

A viewing was held Tuesday, April 14, at Burnham Mortuary in Eagar. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 15, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center in Eagar with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

Interment immediately followed at the Eagar Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donation are suggested to the White Mountain Historical Society, Box 12, Springerville, AZ 85938.
