Gladys Judith Heiser, 71, passed from our presence February 28th, 2004 after courageously battling a myriad of medical challenges for the past twenty-two months. Born August 26, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to Sidney and Elsie, she moved out to Arizona in 1961 with her husband Sandy and friend Sonia ABRAMS, arriving in the sweltering August heat.

Possessing a strong work ethic, she was a devoted employee for 25 years at American Graduate School (AGSIM) in various capacities, consistently spreading her joy and sense of humor to all she came in contact with. During the High Holidays, she routinely opened up her home to visiting graduate students to share a home cooked meal and celebrate Judaism.

After losing her husband of 50 years to congestive heart failure, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and refused to give up despite complex medical problems related to chemotherapy. Since last summer, she has made her home at Freedom Plaza where an extended family of amazing nurses and caregivers saw her for the beautiful human that she was. She made people feel at ease and strove constantly to see others smile.

She will be missed by her son (and hugest fan) Marc and countless friends who laughed with her and completed many a crossword puzzle.

Memorial services at Best Funeral Home, 9380 W. Peoria.
