Lizzie (Pinal) Altaha

Lizzie Pinal Altaha, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, returned home to the Lord Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, in Whiteriver. She was 90 years old. She was born Sept. 15, 1918, to the late Joseph and Lizzie (Nachu) Pinal at Robert Ranch in Arizona.

She lived a Christian life until her death.

She was a faithful wife, a true and faithful mother and grandmother and was willing at any time to sacrifice her happiness for the welfare of her loved ones.

During the week of her affliction, she bore her suffering patiently, putting her trust in her savior. Her daily prayer was Jesus. She loved to cook, sew, pray and read the Bible.

Lizzie is survived by five children, Cornelius Altaha, Evelyn Massey, Theresa Altaha, Sylvester Altaha and Joyce Altaha; 12 grandchildren, Cornelia Clendon, Gerald Altaha, Amanda Altaha, Jasper Altaha, Rowena Massey, Aaron Massey, Ruth Key, Darwin Massey, Edris Holden, Gib Joe Altaha, Wesley Altaha and Shandon Altaha; 22 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Altaha, and eight children.

Her body will be brought back to her home in Rainbow City House No. 19 on Nov. 1 at 10 a.m. for a one-night wake. Funeral services will held Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. at the Canyon Day Miracle Church.

Interment will be at the Whiteriver Cemetery. Pastors, gospel singers, chairman, vice chairwoman and all tribal leaders are welcome.
