The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona - 03/31/2006 Alfred Garcia Jr., known to most as JR, was born Sept. 30, 1948 in Sells, Ariz. to the late Alfred Sr. and Lupe Montana Garcia. He attended elementary school in Sells. Then the family moved to San Carlos, there JR attended junior high. In 1968, he graduated from Alchesay High School in Whiteriver. After graduating, he attended Transmission in Phoenix for mechanic training. Later, JR joined the Army where he served in Frankfurt, Germany, as an M16 sharpshooter and earned the National Defense Service Medal. After the death of his father, he was honorably discharged and returned home to Whiteriver to take care of his family, eventually making it his lifelong duty. While in Whiteriver, JR worked for the White Mountain Apache Tribe in various positions. JR was a well known mechanic and worked on anybody and everybody's vehicle. His most enjoyable job was watching his nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews grow. JR loved his cars and music. He had a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed. Alfred is survived by Lonnie and Rosie Garcia, Leandro and Erma Garcia, Ervin and Yvonnie Massey, Joaquin and Cathy Garcia, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and friends. Alfred was preceded in death by his brother, Darrell Garcia. A wake will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, March 31 at Irvin and Yvonne Massey's residence in Whiteriver. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 1 at the Saint Francis Catholic Church in Whiteriver with Father Edward Fronske officiating. Interment will be held at the Whiteriver Cemetery. Silver Creek Chapel Mortuary of Whiteriver handled the arrangements. See Also: Find A Grave |
