The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona - 04/20/2007 Leroy Hawkins Our beloved father, brother, uncle, grandpa, father-in-law and friend Leroy Hawkins, also known as "Magee," went home to be with the Lord April 15, 2007, at the Indian Health Services hospital in Whiteriver. He was born March 7, 1944, in Eastfork. Leroy was a bareback rider and bull rider. He worked in the logging industry as a heavy equipment operator. He loved cooking and cooked for the Department of Forestry. Leroy is survived by sons Leon Hawkins Sr. and Elroy Hawkins; daughters Joanne Johnson, Valerie Hawkins and Valencia Hawkins; son-in-law Randy Johnson; daughter-in-laws Charlena Hawkins and Nita Hawkins; brothers Alvino Hawkins Sr., Larrison Hawkins, Anderson Hawkins Sr. and William Hawkins Sr.; sisters Effie Dahkoshay and Judy Quintero; aunt Evelyn Barbosa; 24 grandchildren, 19 nephews and six nieces. A two-night wake will be held beginning Saturday, April 21, at 10 a.m. at the Hawkins residence south of the Old Canteen in Whiteriver. Funeral services will be Monday, April 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Whiteriver Cemetery. Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor/Whiteriver handled the arrangements.
