Charles Chester (Chet) Brooks
Nov. 18, 1920 - July 9, 2009

Chet passed away peacefully in the U.S. Veterans Hospital in Prescott, Ariz. His first wife Gwendolyn preceded him in death.

He is survived by his second wife, Audrey; sons Charles Chester Jr., Lawrence and Jeffery Brooks; daughter Lisa Brooks; brother Earl Brooks; granddaughter Leanna Grant; great-grandson Tanner Grant; stepsons Michael, Robert and John; and stepdaughters Susan and Christi.

Chet was born in St. Louis, Mo., to Earl and Cannie Brooks. He studied mechanical engineering at Harris Junior College in St. Louis and Oregon State University. He was assigned to the Corps of Engineers while serving in the army in Europe during WWII.

Chet practiced engineering in St. Louis until 1959, when he moved his family to Los Angeles, where he worked as a mechanical engineer and vice president of the firm of Nack and Sunderland Engineers on major projects until his retirement in 1993, when he and Audrey moved to Prescott, Ariz.

Chet and Audrey were known for their passion for dancing. They met on the dance floor in California. They could often be seen dancing on the Town Square with the Prescott Square Dance Club. He was also Audrey's caretaker while she went through some surgeries and he was very good at it.
