Leo J. Landers, Jr., 91, died August 14, 2006, in Phoenix. He was born on December 19, 1914, in Dedham, Mass. He was the second of five sons born to Leo J. Landers and Sara L. Coolbrith.

On September 23,1939, he married Virginia Crockett. They moved to Arizona in October of 1948.

He retired from Scottsdale High School in 1980. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and the BPOE.

Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, in 2003; daughter, Ann V. Gronek, in 1967; and son, Paul C. Landers, in 1994.

He is survived by his daughter, Helen (Wayne) Wright of Prescott; sons, John (Lori) Landers of Scottsdale and William (Peggy) Landers of Phoenix; nine grandchildren, Sara Wright Jacobs, Sue Gronek Fornara, and Michael Gronek of Prescott, Jennifer Landers Hazeltine, Dennis Landers, Elena Landers, and Timothy Gronek of Phoenix, Susan Wright Kenny of Huntington Beach, Calif. and Christopher Wright of Seattle; nine great-grand-children, Nicholas Wright, Kyle Akiey, Rachel and Cade Jacobs, Toby, Emma, and Alexis Landers, and Hayden and Carter Kenny; and brother Lawrence Landers of Florida.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thursday, August 17, from 5 to 6 p.m., with a funeral starting at 6 p.m. at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road in Scottsdale.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 18, at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th St. in Phoenix.
