The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, August 6, 2006 Dr. Muhammad Shamsul Islam, M.D., age 45, of Prescott, passed away suddenly on June 13, 2006. He was laid to rest in Bangladesh. Dr. Islam completed Medical School in Bangladesh in 1986. He then attended the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom. Dr Islam received his specialty certification in Internal Medicine in 1996. He became a board certified Nephrologistin 1997. In 1998 he joined the Dewey Medical Center. In May 2004, he opened his own practice in Prescott. Dr. Islam was in contact with his many friends from his school days in Bangladesh and loved to share photos and stories from those times. Dr. Islam loved the game of cricket, and played every chance he got. He enjoyed hiking and swimming. Dr. Islam will always be remembered as a loving and caring physician, father, husband and friend to many around the globe. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved a good joke. His dream was to open a hospital in Bangladesh. His heart was always with those less fortunate, and he supported many charities. Dr. Islam is survived by his loving wife, Sayda "Rupa" Noor; his children Nairn, Tutu, Nitu and Jurnana of Prescott; father, Sharful Shajahan; sisters Meela Rahrnan and Sheila Akhder of Bangladesh and Lipi Noor and Faroque Hasan of New Castle, England and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother. He will be fondly remembered by his office staff, Nancy, Colleen and Sharmane as "Dr. Izzie." A Memorial Service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Hampton Funeral Home, 240 South Cortez St., Prescott. Everyone is invited to attend this Celebration of His Life. The family would like to thank the Hampton Funeral Home for all of their help. They have gone "above and beyond" numerous times. The Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
