The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, August 18, 2006 Naasson C. Babbitt, beloved spouse of Ellen Marie Babbitt, departed our world Aug. 12, 2006. He was born Dec. 21, 1925, in Macedonia, Iowa. Naasson was the eldest son of Darwin M. and Frances D. Babbitt and treasured brother to Wynne (Bill) Babbitt and the late Wayne Hubert Babbitt. Naasson grew up in Plattsmouth, Neb., and served during World War II from 1943 to 1947 on the U.S.S. Y.P.- 288 and U.S.S. Dour AM — 223 Naval Vessels. He moved his young family to Phoenix in 1959. Naasson was employed by the Arizona Machinery Co., Inc. until he retired in 1978 at the age of 52. Naasson was preceded in death by his first wife Geraldine (Case) Babbitt and infant son, Patrick Michael. He is survived by his son Gary and daughter-in-law Diane; sons Jay and on Timothy and daughter-in-law Sally. He was a wonderful grandfather to their children: Amber, Jessica, Russell, Jay, Jenny, Mark, Micah, Nason, Wil and Paul and great-grandfather to Jack Babbitt. Naasson's grandchildren meant the world to him. In 1990 Naasson survived his cherished wife, Maurine Babbitt. He was a devoted step-father to Sue, Ken, Karen, Gretchen, Bill, Kim and Rob. Naasson was a loving grandfather to her 21 grandchildren and a blessing to all their lives. Naasson married Ellen Marie (Harriger) in 1992 and spent 14 wonderful years with one another. They moved to Prescott Valley in 1998, where Naasson and Ellen lived the remainder of his years in their peaceful home. He was a caring step-father to Kathy, Colleen, Tim and Ellen's departed son Michael. "Grumpa Naasson" was dearly loved by their children: Nathan, Taylor, Tiffany, Anna, Dash, Robert, Narissa, John Michael, Faith, Sofia and Cohen. Naasson was also treasured by his nephew Mark Babbitt, whom he dearly loved, and his many nieces. Naasson will be remembered for his astute business sense, his belief in hard work, his devotion to family and his incredible optimism. Naasson simply loved life. Services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at 3 p.m. at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale, Ariz., 85255. Information provided by survivors. |
