Thomas Tessler, 74, died April 6, 2003, in Tucson.

Thomas was born and raised in Canyon Day, the third of five children. His parents were Calvin and Chaki DeClay Tessler. He was drafted into military service from the eleventh grade and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was honorably discharged, received the Purple Heart, Bronze Service Star and Combat Infantry Badge. He met Eunice Lavender in 1979 after the war and they were married Jan. 11, 1989.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Eunice Tessler; two daughters, Charlotte Sanchez of Whiteriver and Levinia Lupe of Phoenix; one stepdaughter, Valeria Ethelbah; two sons, Chris Tessler of East Fork and Wilfred Tessler of Whiteriver; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Copper Tessler of East Fork; five stepdaughters, Linda Potter of Whiteriver, Sandra P. Johnson of Cibecue, Dallas Jim of Phoenix, Rhonda Gooday of Cibecue, and Perfillia Tessay of Whiteriver; two stepsons, Delmer Tessay Sr. and Eugene Tessay Sr., both of Cibecue.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at the Lighthouse Church in Canyon Day. There will be a wake at 11 a.m. Friday in Canyon Day. Interment will be in the Whiteriver Cemetery.
