Robert William Gray, Jr., CDR, USN (Ret) (April 15, 1935 - July 27, 2009) Robert William Gray, Jr., CDR, USN (Ret), passed away Monday, July 27, 2009, at the Carriage House in Snowflake, AZ. He was born April 18, 1935, at Blasdell, NY, the son of Robert and Catherine (Babinski) Gray. He was raised in Blasdell and graduated form Baker Victory Catholic High School in 1953. He earned his bachelors degree from Houghton College in Michigan. While a student, he served in the Reserve Officers Training Corps and was commissioned as an officer in the US Navy upon his graduation. While in the Navy he completed several schools including the Civil Engineers Officer School. He received several awards including the Bronze Star, Viet Nam Campaign Medal and the Viet Nam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Combat Insignia. He was married to Florence Seger on May 8, 1976, at Ft. Loramie, OH. He retired from the Navy at the rank of Commander in 1995. He then worked as a civil engineer at various Veterans Administration Hospitals around the country. He did his final retirement in 1999. He came to Show Low, AZ in 2002 where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, square dancing and casinos. He was a member of the American Legion Post 355 in Ft. Loramie and Saint Rita Catholic Church in Show Low. Survivors include a daughter, Kathline Gray, of Mississippi; a son, Robert Michael Gray and wife Lindie, of Clay Springs; a brother, Richard H. Gray and wife Mary Ann, of Lakewood, New York; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sisters in law, Esther Seger, Rita (Henry decd) Seger, Bertha (Fred decd) Seger, Mary Ann (Jerome decd)Seger, Charlene (Ed decd) Seger and brother in law, Richard (Erma decd) Middendorf. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Florence (Seger) Gray and inlaws Homer & Marie Niekamp, Edna & Lou Frazier, Carl & Mary Seger and Urban & Janice Seger. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Friday, July 31 at Black's Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by father Joe Blonski at 10:00 A.M.
