Carl Rawson

Carl "Kenny" Jacobi Rawson, 67, entered into rest Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002. He was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, March 7, 1935, and lived in the Copper Basin area close to 60 years.

He joined the U.S. Navy in June of 1959 and served as a Seabee until February of 1963. He was stationed in Newfoundland and then in Cuba.

Later as a mechanic (shovel and drill), he worked in the copper mines and become known as one who would take time with children (4-H Club) and with small animals, as well as plants, to teach and to enjoy.

He also liked hunting, fishing and golfing as well as his gardening.

A giving and loving personality, he adored his own grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Julann K. of Kearny; sons, Curt Everett and his wife Kay of Sparks, Nevada, and Douglas Carl and his wife Traci of Reno, Nevada; and daughter, Janice Lynn of Citrus Heights, California.

There are two brothers living in Kearny, William R. "Rusty" and James R. "Ray." Three grandchildren also survive, Jacqueline, Danielle and Rylee.

A memorial service with Pastor Fred Lucas was held Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at the L.D.S. Church in Kearny, 200 Hammond Rd. A luncheon was served immediately following. Everyone attending the service was invited.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in remembrance of Kenny Rawson be given to Banner Hospice of Cobre Valley Plaza, 2250 E. Highway 60, Suite B, Miami, AZ 85539.

Griffith Mortuary handled the arrangements.
