Jack Bryan Owen

Jack Bryan Owen, 83, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002.

He moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico from El Paso, Texas in 1998.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen; his son, Bill (Kathy); two grandchildren, all of Albuquerque; brother, Dan (Iris), of Tucson, Arizona and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was born in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Hayden, Arizona and was employed as an apprentice machinist and completed learning this skilled trade as an employee with the Hayden ASARCO Smelter.

He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was a machinist for the El Paso Natural Gas Company from 1947 - 1981. Before retiring, he spent several years working on a liquefied natural gas project in Algeria and enjoyed traveling throughout Europe. He was devoted to his family and friends and served his community as an active member of Manhattan Presbyterian Church, a coach of El Paso youth league sports and over 50 years of membership in Masonic and Shrine organizations.

He loved music, the outdoors and sports. He played trumpet in the Shrine Band and sang in the church and senior center chorus groups. An avid golfer, he played several times a week after retirement.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 12, at Restlawn Memorial Park, 8700 Dyer St, El Paso, Texas.
