The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Sun Dec. 19, 1958 p.1 Services Tuesday for R. H. Mitchell Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. R. O. Sullivan, Baptist minister, in the Wickenburg Chapel at 4:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon for Robert Henry Mitchell who died in Community Hospital the afternoon of December 12. Burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Mitchell, who moved to Wickenburg in 1936, operated Mitchell’s Shoe Shop here until 1945 when he retired. The shop was first located where Johnson’s Department Store is now and later was located in the Hassayampa Hotel Building. Born in Marshall, Ill., May 1, 1871, Mr. Mitchell moved to Great Bend and later to Wichita, Kan., before coming to Wickenburg. He was married February 26, 1896, in Livingston, Ill., to Ada Bell Cork. They observed their 63rd wedding anniversary last February. Survivors, in addition to the widow, are two sons: Glenn of Wichita and Ted of Wickenburg; three daughters, Ruth of Wickenburg, Mrs. Bernice Truex of Great Bend, Kan., and Mrs. Margaret Meyer of Wichita; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, John L. Mitchell of Valley, Calif. Pallbearers were F. H. Wachter, Bill Bass, Gust Matson, Bob Sullivan, H. E. Brickner and H. E. Dunkin. See Also: Find A Grave |
