Mateland Jones Rites Wednesday

Funeral services for Mateland Jones were held in the Wickenburg Chapel Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Robert Jenkins, Baptist minister, officiating.

Burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery with the American Legion conducting graveside rites.

Mr. Jones was admitted to Community Hospital last Saturday morning. He died there at 11:40 a.m. Monday.

Born December 25, 1890, in Wilmont, Mich., Mr. Jones was a farmer in Nebraska prior to World War I. As an Army man in that war he took part in the last offensive battle of the Argonne Forest where he was gassed. He spent 13 months in hospitals in Europe.

He and Mrs. Jones moved to Wickenburg May 1, 1956, from Miami, Ariz., where they had resided for 16 years. They resided here at 356 North Jefferson Street.

Surviving are the widow; one son, Aden E. Jones of Pomona, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Naomi Davidson of Duarte, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
