The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona - 05/05/2006 Steve R. Wano, Jr., 81, died April 30, 2006 in Snowflake. He was born Nov. 18, 1924 in Dorothy, Penn. to Steve and Susan (Pyatak) Wano. He was raised and went to school in Latrobe, Penn. He is a World War II veteran. He entered the Army in 1944 and was discharged in 1950. He worked at Beatty Coke Co. In Bradenville, Penn. He later worked for Latrobe Steel Co. for 33 years until retiring in the '80s. He came to Phoenix 15 years ago. He moved to Snowflake in 1993. He enjoyed sports and especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a very good father. He belonged to the Slovak Club, the Greek club, Frontier Club and the VFW Post 444 of Derry, Penn. He is survived by one daughter, Frances (W.D.) Meeks of Snowflake; son, Randolph R. (Kim) Wano of New Jersey; three sisters Margie (Ronald) Everett of Latrobe, Penn., Frances (Wallace) Lovejoy of Snydertown, Penn. and Tillie Camboni of Latrobe, Penn.; five brothers John Wano of Flint, Mich., Joe Wano, Frank Wano both of Snydertown, Penn., Paul Wano of Greensburg, Penn. and George (Ann) Wano of Latrobe, Penn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews A viewing was held at Black's Mortuary in Show Low Wednesday, May 3. Graveside services were held at Taylor Cemetery Thursday, May 4.
