The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, April 12, 2006 Roberta McClure, 85, died April 8, following a lengthy illness. Roberta was a native of York, Nebraska, and lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from 1949 until she retired in Prescott in 1979. Roberta had returned to the Ann Arbor area this past summer to be closer to family. Roberta will be remembered for her love of flowers and gardening, for her unique ideas and philosophy, and for her passion for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a young woman, she was very active with local theater groups, both as an actress and as the fashion designer for many Ann Arbor theater productions. She was a contributing artist in the early years of the Ann Arbor Art Fair and was well known for her paper mache angels. In retirement, she grew Bonsai trees and created lapidary sculptures. Roberta is survived by her husband of 64 years, Professor Thomas McClure; her daughter, Colleen Kotila of Ann Arbor; her son, James McClure of Portola Valley Calif.; and her three sisters, Lorena Day, Irma Johnson and Sylvia Carroll all of Southern California. She had three grandchildren, Kim Kastenholz, Jennifer Kotila and Shannon McClure and two great grandchildren, Abigail and Robert Kastenholz. A memorial will be held at the meditation room at the Village at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ypsilanti, Michigan on April 22 at 10 a.m. Information provided by survivors. |
