Lorene (Watson) Carter

Lorene Carter, age 85, of Prescott Valley, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, in Phoenix. Lorene was born March 2, 1921, in Henryetta, Okla., the daughter of James E. Watson and Ottie Mae (Schmidt) Watson.

Lorene was married to Ross E. Carter Sr. on July 4, 1942, in Okemah, Okla. Lorene and Ross celebrated 60 loving years together prior to his death in 2002.

Lorene was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Glenna Jones; sisters Naomi, Veatress, Mary Donna and Charlene; and brothers, Albert, Raymond, Herald, Jim Jr. and Tony.

She leaves behind her son, Ross E. Carter Jr., (Sharon), Roosevelt, Ariz.; daughter Janice (John) Warren, Fort Smith, Ark.; nine grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lester Watson, Mesa, Ariz.; and six sisters, Irene Lewis (her twin), Dewey, Ariz., Esther Dansky, Melbourne, Fla., Sadie Caswell, Cave Creek, Ariz., Frances Stingle, Wichita Falls, Texas, Ruby Rackley Tempe, Ariz., and Carol Thorpe of Calif.

In memory of Lorene, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Arizona, 2222 W. Northern Avenue #A102, Phoenix, Ariz., 85021.

A service wll be held at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel at the corner of Valley Road and Navajo, Prescott Valley, with visitation one hour prior.

Interment to follow at Heritage Memorial Park Cemetery, Dewey, Arizona.
