Funeral Tuesday for Bill Garcia, A Pioneer Here

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in St Anthony's church for William Garcia, Sr, who died Sunday morning at St Joseph's hospital, Phoenix, after an illness of approximately one year. It was the third time since last May that he had been hospitalized. A wake was held in the Garcia home at 122 East Yavapai Street Monday evening. Burial was in the Garcia cemetery.

Mr. arcia, known to his many friends as "Bill" was a native Wickenburger. He was born here August 6, 1913, and ived here all his life. His parents wer the late Mr. and Mrs. Pete Garcia. His grandfather, Ignacio Garcia, was one of the early founders of the town of Wickenburg and the man who donated the land on which the Wickenburg Elementary School, St Anthony's Church and the Garcia Cemetery are located.

Mr Garcia was married December 2, 1921 to Esmeralda (Lily) Orosco.
Ranching and mining occupied most of his years.

Survivors include the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Barry McMillen of Colton, Calif; one on, Bill, Jr, of Wickenburg; three brothers, Fred and Gus of Los Angeles and Pete, Jr, of Colton; one sister, Mrs. Amelia Padilla of Los Angeles; and three grandsons.
