Julia Benavidez, 65, died Sept. 4, 2003 in Holbrook.

Julia was born in Holbrook and lived there all of her life. She attended school and graduated from Holbrook High School with the class of 1956. Julia worked for JC Penney's in Holbrook for many years. Later she worked, as a teacher's assistant and helped with the specially challenged children. Julia enjoyed working with the Special Olympics. She was a member of the 8/40 club, The American Legion Auxiliary and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She is survived by her two sons, Bonie Benavidez, Jr. of Peoria, and Andrew Benavidez of Phoenix; daughter, Loretta Hadlock of Peoria; brother, Florian Tostado of Tucson; three sisters, Della Candelaria of Holbrook, Irene Baldry of Holbrook, Tommie Castenada of Glendale; and 10 grandchildren.

A Rosary will be held Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Holbrook Cemetery.
