Elvira Serna 12/30/2005 Elvira Serna, 68, died Dec. 24, 2005, in the Winslow Memorial Hospital. Elvira was born in Socorro, New Mexico. When she was 3 years old the family moved to Snowflake. She attended Snowflake Elementary School and graduated from Snowflake Union High School in 1955. After completing high school she married Hilairo Serna and they made their home in Holbrook. She was a homemaker and enjoyed all kinds of craft making. Elvira was a Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for many years. She loved her family and enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Serna is survived by two sons, Thomas (Frances) Serna of Winslow and Michael (Margie) Serna of Holbrook; four daughters, Lily Spencer of Holbrook, Roberta Isabel (Edward) Lopez of Dodge City, Kansas, Debra Serna of Flagstaff, and Veronica Medina of Holbrook; brother, Melquiades Gonzales of Snowflake; sister, Gertrude Jackson of Holbrook; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilario Serna in May 1999. A Rosary was held Tuesday, Dec. 27 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Holbrook. Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Dec. 28 at the Church and burial will follow in the Holbrook Cemetery. Owens Mortuary of Holbrook is handling the arrangements.
