LP Stingley

LP Stingley died April 1, 2004.

He was born Jan. 5, 1919 to Frank and Annie Stingley in Morton, Mississippi. He married Ruby Le Walker July 30, 1938. Mr. Stingley was then sent to Las Vegas, Nevada to serve active duty for the Air Force. In the following years Mr. and Mrs. Stingley moved to McNary, then again to Holbrook where they made their home. LP worked for Southwest Forest Industries in McNary for 37 years then transferred to Snowflake where he then retired in 1985.

LP raised eight children and also helped raise his grandchildren. During his lifetime he touched many lives. LP knew no stranger. He loved to talk, fish, and watch baseball. He also liked to drive and pickup cans. LP was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

LP leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 65 years, Ruby Lee Stingley of Holbrook; three sisters, Dale, Glenda and Gloria all of Mississippi; one brother, Luther of Tennessee; five children, Juanita (Jerry) Stayhand of Fairfield, California, LP Stingley, Jr. of Phoenix, Hollis (Jonna) Stingley of Apache Junction, Larry Stingley of Tempe, Jackie Stingley of Holbrook; 37 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; also countless relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10 at the St. Johns Baptist Church in Holbrook. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 9 at Owens Mortuary in Holbrook.

Interment will be in the Holbrook Cemetery.

Owens Mortuary of Show Low is handling the arrangements.
