The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona - 08/10/2004 Catherine Gallegos, 85, died Aug. 5, 2004 in Phoenix. She was born in a little town in New Mexico called Los Placitos, which no longer exists. She was raised in Hatch, New Mexico and Alamogordo, New Mexico. When she was 17 years old her family moved to McNary. It was there that she met and married Phil Gallegos in 1937. In 1945 they moved to Holbrook and she has lived here ever since. They owned and operated Phil's Bar, she was the book keeper and manager. At the same time she was raising 8 children. Catherine was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Catherine is survived by her sons, Jimmy Gallegos of Phoenix, Peter Gallegos of Stockton, California, David Gallegos of Casa Grande, Michael Gallegos of Phoenix; daughters, Irene Erickson of Phoenix, Virginia Soltow of Monroeville, Pennyslvania, Patricia Shugart of Phoenix, Terry Okamura of Phoenix; one sister, Gavina Candelaria of Phoenix; 29 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. There will be a Rosary held at 7 p.m. Monday Aug. 9, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Holbrook, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 10.
