The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, March 19, 1972 Prentice L. Foote, 66, Ex-Prescott Educator PRESCOTT - Prentice L. Foote, 66, retired director of the elementary schools of Prescott and principal of Dexter School, died Friday in Yavapai Community Hospital. He retired in 1971 after occupying both positions for 10 years. His appointment to the positions came at the same time. Mr. Foote, 604 Coronado Ave., a native of Osawatomie, Kan. He attended public schools in Venice, Calif. He attended Venice Junior College, Phoenix College, the University of Arizona and was graduated with an AB degree from Northern Arizona University in 1934. He earned his masters' degree in 1938 from the University of Southern California. He started teaching in Gilbert in 1935, moved to Mesa in 1937 and three years later to Prescott, where he was a sixth grade teacher at Washington School until becoming principal of Miller Valley School in 1941. Mr. Foote, except for World War II service, held that position until 1961. During World War II he served as a first sergeant in the Rainbow Division and was awarded a Bronze Star, the Sliver Star, the Infantry Combat Citation, two Purple Hearts and the Unit Award of Integrity. Mr. Foote was a member of the Aztlan Lodge No 1 F. & A.M. and the United Methodist Church and its Men's Club. Survivors include his wife, Florence, and a brother Lawrence of Tucson. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the United Methodist Church in Prescott. Entombment will be at 2 pm Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum in Phoenix.
