Richard John Susmark

Dr. Richard John Susmark, age 76, of Prescott, passed away on July 29, 2006, at Yavapai Medical Center in Prescott after a brief illness.

Dr. Susmark is survived by his long-time companion Laurette Matson and children, Reid Susmark of Toivola, Mich.; Kari Susmark of Martinsville, Ind.; Ms. Cindy Hinkel of Hancock, Mich.; Mrs. Linda (Tom) Hale of Green Bay, Wis.; Mrs. Laura Jean (Jo) Cooney of Sandwich, Ill.; his brother Lawrence Susmark of Naperville; along with grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Stanley Susmark (Florida) and Violet Susmark (Illinois); his nephew Jim Susmark and his previous spouse, Nancy A. Clusen.

He was born July 22, 1930, in Chicago and attended and graduated from Lane Tech High School in Chicago in 1948 and served in the US Army during the Korean War as a Medic with the 101 Airborne Div.

He was a graduate of Logan Basic College of Chiropractic in Flourissant, Mo. Dr. Susmark, owner of the Wright Health Clinic, was a highly successful chiropractor in Naperville, Ill., and then retired to Prescott. During his years of practice, he was fortunate to have new chiropractic graduates to work alongside him.

Dr. Susmark was active in many business ventures and enjoyed scuba diving and other interests during his long life. He was also a licensed pilot.

A private memorial service by family members will take place in Prescott in the near future. For those of you who would like to recognize Doc's life, an open Memorial Service is planned for family and friends at St John's Episcopal Church, 750 Aurora Ave. in Naperville, Ill. from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tues, Aug. 22.
