| The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, August 03, 2009 Gloria S. Anderson died on July 31, 2009 in Prescott. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on Sept. 7, 1930 to George and Josephine Deane Shearer. After graduating from Kansas State Teachers College, Gloria went to New York City to pursue a career in modeling. She appeared as a Ladies Home Journal cover girl numerous times, as well as countless fashion and advertising layouts, and later in television on "Beat The Clock." She married the love of her life, G. William (Bill) Anderson Jr., on Feb. 11, 1954 at Park Avenue Methodist Church in Manhattan. Their only child, Cynthia, was born in 1955. They later moved to Greenwich, Conn., where they lived for many happy years. It was in Greenwich that Gloria began her lifelong and cherished friendship with her "third sister" Ginny Sarno. Later, Gloria and Bill lived in Atlanta, Ga., and in a 1789 house in New Milford, Conn. While living in New Milford, Gloria proudly worked for the U.S. Census Bureau for many years. To be closer to their daughter Cynthia and adored son-in-law Robert (Lynn) Pedigo, they moved to Laguna Hills, Calif., followed by Prescott four years ago. Gloria is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, who died in Prescott 10 months minus one day before Gloria. She is survived by Cynthia Anderson and Robert Pedigo of Prescott; sisters Dorothy Moore of Venice, Fla., and Muriel Whitworth (Clarence) of Houston, Texas. She was extremely proud that the three "Shearer sisters" all celebrated their 50-year anniversaries and beyond. Gloria will be forever in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be missed for her beauty, both inside and out, her generous and creative spirit, her amazing strength, and especially her delicious sense of humor. The family would like to gratefully thank her caregivers at YRMC (a special loving thanks to Jan Randall), Mountain View Manor and Hospice Family Care.
