Jack / Maclen Gaylord Slade - Bell

Jack Slade (Maclen Bell), 74, of Cottonwood, Ariz., passed away at his home Monday July 27, 2009. Jack was named Maclen Gaylord Bell at birth March 10, 1935, in Carmichael, Sask., and officially changed his name in 2001.

Jack served in Japan during the Korean War. In 1955 he married Vonnie King of Porthill, Idaho. To this union were born two children. They were later divorced and he moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He married Rosemary Kaye DeMers of Sandpoint, Idaho and later moved to Arizona.

In recent years he especially enjoyed volunteering at Prescott Veteran's Hospital and Verde Valley Hospital until his health declined.

Jack is survived by one daughter, Vickie Lynn White of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; sons Harley Gene Hubbell of Rancho Murieta, Calif., Maclen Gaylord Jr. and Alexander Uzell and their mother Kaye, all of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; two sisters; many nieces and nephews; his cat Pepper; and many friends.

There will be no funeral or memorial. His cremains will be interred in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, located in Phoenix, Ariz.
