Don E. Long has passed away after a lengthy illness. He was bom in Chama, N.M.

He is survived by his wife, Reva Long; his daughter, Devon Long of Prescott Valley; his son, Sky Long of Tucson; stepson and daughter-in-law George and Erica Sabin of San Juan Bautista, Calif.; mother Letta Harvey of Portales, N.M.; sister and brother-in-law Gerry and Roy Harris of Portales, N.M.; brother Kenny Long of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother and sister-in-law Pat and Regina Garratt of San Juan Bautista, Calif.; brother and sister in law Morley and Eva Tingley of Shandon, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Millard Long; brother, Calvin Long; his former wife, Donna Long; and stepson, Tony Howe.

Don E. retired from the IBEW Union in 2001. He served in the army reserves and was a member of the Mason and FOE of Prescott, where he loved to play shuffleboard with the gang. Don E. loved to golf regularly with his good friends in Arizona and in California.

He loved fishing with his buddies at Alamo, Roosevelt, and Pleasant Lakes. He visited San Juan Bautista every year of his retirement to stay with his brother and sister-in-law and golfed every day with his friends.

Don E. has traveled all over the United States for his work, but in retirement he was able to travel to fun places like New Mexico, to visit his family; to Alaska and to Boston. He took many, many "Sunday drives" with the family in California.

Don E. is clearly loved and will be truly missed by everyone he knew. He received literally hundreds of cards, letters, calls and messages during his illness, wishing him well and expressing sadness and love, which has been very comforting to him and his family.

The family would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. The family would also like to thank the Hospice of the Pines for the excellent care he received at home.

A Visitation and Gathering of Friends will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16 at the Hampton Funeral Home in Prescott.

Funeral Services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17 at the same location. Everyone is invited to the FOE (Eagles), located at 218 N. Cortez in Prescott, immediately following the service.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22 in San Juan Bautista, Calif.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the FOE Building Fund, Hospice of the Pines, or the Cancer Society.

The Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
