The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Thursday, August 24, 2006 Bruce Vaughn Snyder went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 18, 2006. He was born on Sept. 4, 1945, in Sacramento, Calif., where he spent most of his childhood. He joined the U.S. Postal Service and spent most of his career life as a Postal Carrier until he retired. He fell in love with Carolyn Melicia Rhodes, and they were married on Nov. 25, 1978. Together they raised two children, Dina and Charles, before retiring and moving to Prescott Valley. Carolyn was the owner and manager of Dina's Italian Deli in Prescott Valley prior to her death on Oct. 2, 2000. "Uncle Bruce" attended several fundamental, Bible-preaching churches in the tri-city area over the years and was a capable Bible study teacher. He was especially dedicated to the street-preaching ministry, where he would share his testimony and pass out Bible tracks. His "Jesus" ball cap, Bible verse jacket, and placards on his car made him easily recognizable and left no question as to what was most important in his life. He loved all gospel music, especially bluegrass, and played the harmonica whenever and wherever he was invited to do so. He is survived by two children, daughter Dina Garrett and husband Bob of Mariposa, Calif., and son Charles Garrett of San Francisco, Calif. He is also survived by his mother Dorothy, brother Byron, and sister Barbara. His father preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 2006. He was dearly loved, and will be missed by his surviving family members and his many brothers and sisters in Christ as well. A Memorial Service for Bruce will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, at the Mile High Worship Center, 7605 E. Long Look Drive, Prescott Valley, in addition to private services by his family in California. Information provided by survivors. |
