The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, April 18, 2006 Donald F. Almblad, 79, formerly of Morton Grove, Ill., passed away peacefully April 4,2006, in Prescott. Beloved husband of the late Evangeline (Van); loving father of the late James (Jean), Robert (Yvonne) and Jill Mitchell; proud grandfather of Dawn Marie, Jay, Brooke, James Ryan and Mark; great-grandfather of Aedan and Bevin; cherished brother of Elin Sunborg and Roger (Dorothy); sisters-in-law, Jackie (Virgil) Cousineau, Bertha (Joey) Ossachuk of Fort Frances, Ontario, and Beatrice (Jerry) Puchulski of Vancouver, B.C., and many nieces and nephews. Don graduated from Von Steuben High School in 1944 and completed a tour of duty in the Air Force. He purchased and managed the Northern Lights Resort on Lake Kabatogama, Minn., and in 1954 moved his family to Morton Grove, Ill., where he enjoyed a successful career for over 30 years as the General Manager of Gerald Motors Lincoln Mercury in Skokie, Ill. After retirement he began a new venture when he invented the plastic Credit Card Key. And, along with his son Robert, he founded the company Credit Card Keys Co. in Tempe, Ariz. He touched many lives with his wonderful sense of humor and love of family gatherings, as it would not be uncommon to see Don singing and playing his organ while entertaining his friends and family. Private service was held in Prescott April 10. Memorial service will be May 15 in Fort Frances, Canada. Information provided by survivors. |
