Bernice M. Markle, of Congress, died March 7 in Phoenix. She was 70.

Mrs. Markle was born April 24, 1925 in Niles, Mich. She had lived in Arizona for 44 years, coming here from Michigan.

Mrs. Markle was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing crafts and traveling. She also did cake decorating for weddings and was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Hassayampa Chapter No. 35.

Mrs. Markle is survived by her daughters Patricia Hansen of Prescott, Susan Paris of Congress, Gloria Phelps of West Valley City, Utah, Marjorie Brinley of Congress, Sandra Rutherford of Mesa, and Billie Thomas of Wickenburg; brothers Kenneth Albin of Niles, Mich. and Charles Albin of Mesa; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; aunt Carolyn Miles of Santa Ana, Cali; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, in June 1995 and her granddaughter, Shelby Hansen, in 1987.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Markle's name to : Wickenburg Regional Health Care Foundation, Nursing Home Expansion Fund, PO Bos 1388, Wickenburg, Ariz. 85358.

Frey Funeral Home and Cremaion Service was in charge of all arrangements.
