Jack Spencer, 84, of Indian Wells, died Aug. 23, 2007, in Flagstaff.

Mr. Spencer, a retired employee of Santa Fe Railroad, was born Dec. 27, 1922, in Leupp. He lived all his life in Arizona and loved working with livestock and farming.

When he lived in Parker he worked in the cotton fields, as well as five years as a ranch hand. He then moved to Phoenix where he worked in the orchards. Jack built his own home and hogans.

Later he went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad, which took him to Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Illinois, Wyoming and later to Oregon and Washington. Later in life he spent his time at home ranching and working with sheep.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Jim; two sons, Thurston Spencer and Laurence Spencer; seven daughters, Jenny Gishey, Minnie Spencer, Fannie Garcia, Delores Spencer, Josephine Ackerman, Phyllis Spencer and Tori Spencer; 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Holbrook with a visitation one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at the Holbrook Cemetery.
