The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ January 10, 2007, p. B8 Doreen “DeGe” McCoy, age 87, passed away Dec. 20 in Auburn Calif. She was born in Colville, Wash., on March 22, 1919, the daughter of Leo and Ruth Gordon. DeGe attended Eastern Washington University for three years with an art scholarship, and Northwestern Academy of Watercolor. She was married Sept. 30, 1943 to the love of her life “Mac” McCoy. She was self-employed as an architect. DeGe belonged to the State of California Registered Architects, AM Institute of Building Design, Women in Architecture, Nevada Artists Association and the California Art League. Her hobbies include watercolor painting, in which she taught beginning and advanced classes; making “dimensionals,” writing poetry, cooking and canning, and gardening. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Jayne and Michael Sanchez, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Nancie McCoy, grandsons Chris and Paul Sanchez, granddaughters Carrie McCoy and Heather Lister, and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Mary Lee in 1974 and her husband Clayton “Mac” McCoy in 2001. Memorial services for both “Mac” and “DeGe” McCoy will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1866 Ridge Road, Grass Valley, CA 95945. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 1866 Ridge Road, Grass Valley, CA 95945. Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary. |
