Harry Ray Woodward, 86, of Wickenburg, passed away Friday, June 15 in Peoria, Ariz. Harry was born February 18, 1921 in Iuka, Ill., son of David and Mae (Donaho) Woodward.

Harry married Leota Beard on Sept. 21, 1942. He is survived by Leota who will continue to reside in Wickenburg, Ariz.

Harry entered into active military service Oct. 20, 1942, and was discharged January 9, 1946. While in the service, Harry served 15 months, 11 days overseas in the European Theater. During his military service, Harry received three Bronze Stars. He was a steadfast member of the American Legion Post 128 in Salem, Ill., and a member of the 12th Armored Division Association.

Harry worked for the Illinois Highway Department as a foreman. His true love was farming, from which he retired in 1979.

Harry is also survived by son Ray Woodward of College Station, Texas; daughter Elsie Vance of Wickenburg, Ariz.; sister Louise Adams of Denver, Colo.; half-brother Ronald Woodward of Iuka, Ill.; half-sister Clara Meyer of Iuka, Ill.; stepsisters Mildred Donaho and Martha Davis both of Michigan and Mary Smith of Iuka, Ill.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Harry was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Visitation was Tuesday (June 19) from 6 to 8 p.m. with funeral services following Wednesday (June 20) at 10:30 a.m. at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home, Salem, Ill., with Ray Barnes officiating.

Burial will be at the Iuka Cemetery.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home.
