Martha Snyder Plenert, 80, lovingly known as "Marti" went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 23rd, 2004, with her family by her side.

Marti was a beloved member of the Scottsdale community for 48 years. She was an R.N. choosing to be a school nurse at Tonalea Elementary School where she was loved by hundreds of children and their parents for 25 years. After her retirement, Marti spent many hours ushering at the Stagebrush Theater, volunteering at Scottsdale Memorial hospital, and greeting her many friends at Scottsdale United Methodist Church. Marti was an active member of R.I.S.K. and countless Bible studies always hugging everyone within arms reach.

Marti is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Faune (Gene), Carla (Bob), and Lisa (Chuck). Her youngest daughter Lisa from Scottsdale was her constant companion, lunch partner and closest confidant. Her eight beautiful grandchildren will miss their Nana and Grandma, her kindness, gentle spirit and love for the Lord.

Recently Marti made the Manors of Scottsdale her new home. She became a friend who was loved by all and was ultimately nicknamed the "hugger".

A celebration of life and a memorial service honoring Marti was held on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Scottsdale United Methodist Church, 4140 Miller Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85251.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to United Methodist Women's Organizations, c/o the church. Arrangements by Messinger Indian School Mortuary.
