Emma Roelfsema, 81, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away on May 7, 2006. Emma was born in Columbus, New Mexico on December 6, 1924 to Juan and Ana (Fernandez) Pereda.

She moved from South Dakota to Arizona 23 years ago, and was a resident of Scottsdale Manors, a member of the Elks, and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Community Church. Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred.

She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Hughes of Scottsdale; brother Ramon Pereda of Arlington, TX; sisters Virginia Estrada of Brea, CA and Herminia Ortiz of Cerritos, CA; and grandchildren Adam, Brian, and Charity Hughes.

A visitation was held on Thursday, May 11, 2006, with a Rosary at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd. in Scottsdale. Funeral Mass was said on Friday, May 12 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Chapel, 10815 N. 84th St. in Scottsdale, followed by interment at Paradise Memorial Gardens.
