| The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona January 5, 2006 Skipper Ross, 95, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 in Scottsdale. During the 1930's she was with American Airlines and was the first Skipper of their Admiral's Clubs, founding clubs at LaGuardia, NY, Washington DC, and LA, Calif. During WWII she wrote surveys of all USAF installations in Alaska Territory. Skipper came to Arizona in 1946 and opened and managed the Kiva Club for 19 months and set up the relationship of this club with the Phoenix Thunderbirds. She was an active member of the Phoenix Press Club. In the 1950's Skipper authored a book on the history of Scottsdale and in 1966 she founded World Trade Services, a Public/Communications Relations firm, which she operated into the 1990's. Skipper was the Dutch Consul for Arizona during the 1970's and 1980's. She was a long time YMCA Board Member in Scottsdale, a member of the Scottsdale Western Art Assoc., and a leading force in the acquisition of "The Yearlings" and "One with the Eagle" Sculptures which were gifted to the city of Scottsdale. Skipper is survived by her daughter, Betsy Hamilton of Tempe; granddaughters, Brooke D'Arezzo and Whitney Beard of Calif. Visitation was Thursday, January 5, 2006, at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road. A Funeral Mass was held on Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3801 N. Miller Road, Scottsdale. Interment at Paradise Memorial Gardens, Scottsdale.
