Posted 2009-08-13 by Edward Peed
Karl Gustave Rauch, 74, passed away on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, in Tucson.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on Dec. 8, 1934, to Karl and Augusta Rauch.

As a youth raised in Germany, while the Second World War was raging, he later returned to New Jersey to work as a mechanic. Soon he joined the U.S. Navy and studied electronics; this later aided his becoming an electrical inspector at Bendix Aviation Corporation in Teterboro, New Jersey. There, Karl met his wife, Georgia “Gigi.” They were married on June 29, 1963.

In 1970, the couple moved to Dudleyville where they raised their children. Karl served as the chief electrician and process controller at ASARCO, having much satisfaction in the assignment. He had also worked for Kennecott in Hayden and Miami as well as Trona Co. in California.

After 39 years, there came a move of necessity for health reasons to Tucson.

Through the years he liked to travel by various means, even going on two different Carnival ocean cruises. However, he particularly enjoyed his hobby of miniature trains and swimming in his backyard pool. Mr. Rauch was blessed with a charming sense of humor and was much loved by all, family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia; son, Roy (Brenda); daughter, Justine Rauch Pippins; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Noel (Virginia) Dickinson of Jackson, New Jersey, Horst (Jonnie) Rauch of Imperial Beach, California, Heinz (Geri) Rauch of Holiday, Florida, and Eleanor Rauch of Phoenix; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Rauch was preceded in death by his sister, Gertrude, his brother, Klaus, and his parents.

To celebrate Karl’s live as a much loved and loving father and husband, Pastor Tim King will conduct a 9 a.m. service at the San Pedro Valley Baptist Church in Dudleyville on Thursday, Aug. 13. A visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow the funeral services at Mountain View Cemetery in Hayden. A buffet lunch will be served at the Church hall after the graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Karl’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The caregivers at Infinity Assisted Living in Tucson and the Casa de la Luz Hospice Care offered support and care to Mr. Rauch.

Griffith Mortuary assisted the family.
