The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona May 27, 2004 Bennie G. Sipes, passed away quietly at home May 22, 2004. He was born in Glendale, AZ, October 6, 1927. He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen of 55 years, his four sons William of Flagstaff, John and Patrick of Mesa, Samuel of Scottsdale, and grandchildren Spencer, Victoria, Travis, Alison and Jonathon. Sisters Geneive Stringfield of Prescott, Ann O'Donnal of Payson, Dorothy Bong and Bertha Meredith of Cottonwood, Nell Hollenbeck of Grand Prairie, Texas, and brother Robert of Ashfork. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1961, and had retired from the Operating Engineers Local 428. He did rodeo from 1944-1957, riding bucking horses and bulls under the name of "Sonny". He loved people, telling stories, and was never too busy to help anyone in need. He gave freely to many charities also. He will be missed by family and many friends. Services will be at Melcher Chapel of the Roses at 43 S. Stapley Drive in Mesa, AZ. Viewing was Friday and services Saturday with burial following at Mesa Cemetery. See Also: Mesa Cemetery |
