Richard (Dick) Wilson Shumway, Sr.

Richard Wilson Shumway, 82, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2004 at his home in Mesa. He was born April 18, 1922 in Lakeside, Arizona to Clarence and Esther Smith Shumway.

He graduated from Clifton High School and worked in the mines at Morenci. He later served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a MM/2c during World War II.

He met Patricia Legg in Oakland, California. They were married December 13, 1944 and were sealed in the Mesa Arizona temple March 15, 1945. They are the parents of ten children. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Wilson Shumway, Jr. and five grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Pat, sons Lee (Julie) and Chad (Letitia) and by daughters Jennifer (Kato) Haws, Patricia Little, Kristine (Patrick) Havice, Ida (Stephen) Allen, Amy (Daniel) Moore, Dixie (Ronald) Timmerman, Emily (Thomas) Haskell, 45 grandchildren and 62 great grandchildren.

Services were held Monday, August 30th at the Mesa North Stake Center, 933 E. Brown Rd. A Viewing was held one hour prior to the services.

Bunker Mortuary is handling the arrangements.

Richard "Dick" Wilson Shumway, Sr., 82, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away August 22, 2004.

Mr. Shumway served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Visitation was held one hour prior to service at the Stake Center on Monday, August 30, 2004 at the Mesa North Stake Center, 933 E. Brown Rd., Mesa, AZ.

Arrangements entrusted to Bunker's Garden Chapel.
